300 Guarded Wagon

300 Guarded Wagon

This is one of the numerous displays of public art in Tlaquepaque.  I was drawn to it because of the crudeness of the wooden wagon wheels and the rusted metal figures that guard it.

312 Covered Wagon

312 Covered Wagon

This great old wagon sits on the parking lot of Silver Son West Curio Shop between Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek.

301 Mantis & Moth

301 Mantis & Moth

I was so intent on capturing the moth while taking photos of hummingbirds that I never noticed the praying mantis until after the fact.  On the other hand, he seems to be watching me as I captured this image.

310 Snoopy Rock

310 Snoopy Rock

I have captured numerous images of Snoopy Rock but this is my favorite.  For those who have never been to Sedona, Snoopy Rock is to the right of the trees.  It looks like snoopy lying on the top of his dog house.  There is even a small rock in the formation that looks like his buddy Woodstock.

311 Chess Anyone

311 Chess Anyone?

This great setting for a chess match is in Los Abrigados.

305 Airport Mesa

305 Airport Mesa

This is a very popular spot for watching the sunset over West Sedona.  It is on Airport Mesa next to the Sky Ranch Inn.

302 Old Tree

302 Old Tree

This massive log was sitting at a spot where people often take photos of Cathedral Rock.  It is in the Red Rock Crossing Park near the farthest parking lot.  In the photo as shot the log, shed, and red rocks blended together because the shed is nearly the same color as the log.  With the help of Photoshop I isolated the shed and removed the color.  The result is that the log’s size and character are more evident.  Removing the background completely also removes any sense of size.

303 Winter in Sedona

303 Winter in Sedona

This was taken one winter day just after a brief snow storm.  The storm clouds were still present and the sun was beginning to break through the clouds.  Even though the snow is evident in the hills it has not had any detrimental effect on traffic or life in Sedona.

306 Inside Chapel

306 Inside the Chapel of the Holy Cross

This is the view from inside the Chapel of the Holy Cross.

307 Old Log

307 Old Log

The log from Photo # 302 isolated from its background.  I am fascinated by the color, texture, and details of this huge log.  Without the context of the natural setting the massiveness of the log is not apparent.

308 Wood Eye

308 Wood Eye

A closer look at a portion of the log.

309 Enhanced Spotlight

309 Enhanced Spotlight

This is a slightly enhanced version of Photo # 212 in the landscape section.  I toned down the intensity of the spotlight effect so that more detail could be revealed.
